MIPPA – Medicare Improvements Patient and Providers Act

MIPPA is a program designed to assist individuals with lower incomes in reducing their Medicare-related costs. This includes the Medicare Savings Programs, which can help cover the Medicare Part A and/or B premiums. SHIP is available to assist you with your application for the Extra Help program (“LIS”), which may reduce your Medicare Part D premiums and the cost of prescription medications. We will also explore additional ways to save you money, such as patient assistance programs, cash discounts, and discount cards. All of these initiatives are based on income and resources. A certified State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselor can provide guidance on how to apply and address any questions you may have about these programs and more.
