Crisis Prevention helps those on the verge of homelessness stay within their homes while also assisting shelter guests on their paths out of homelessness. We do this by providing assistance with rent, mortgage, utility, energy, medical and crisis expenses. We also help with employment readiness through our ReHire service. The Crisis Prevention team works in partnership with clients to identify and overcome hurdles so they can live self-sufficiently in an economically struggling community. We seek to give hope to families when they need it most.
To apply for these services, please contact us or visit our Alamosa office at 929 State Avenue. You can also call or text our warmline at 719-301-5466. We check the warmline regularly during office hours; if you reach out to us outside of our office hours, we will respond to you by the next business day. Office: 719-587-3781.
Crisis Prevention offers a range of additional services and can provide referrals to other agencies when assistance is beyond our scope. We help individuals obtain essential documents such as IDs, birth certificates, and Social Security cards. In some cases, we may also assist with purchasing medical equipment, including hearing aids, dentures, and glasses. We also have special assistance available for veterans. If you’re unsure whether we can help, we encourage you to reach out—it’s always worth asking!
It is NOT required to be a U.S. citizen to receive our services. Some services do require citizenship. Our staff will help you now what you ARE eligible to receive.
In most cases you need a photo ID, proof of income, and a copy of the bill that needs to be paid. Specific requirements may vary. To be sure you have the documents needed, please call us or visit our webpage before visiting our office. Call 719-587-3781.
